How to remove a virus? - AVG Support

When a virus is detected in your system the AVG software will automatically prohibit the access to the file in order to prevent the virus from spreading and also help in removing the virus from the system. If the file infected by the virus is not a system file, then you easily get rid of it by selecting one of the options you will see on the detection pop-up of your AVG software. You can choose either of the following options:

Heal

If you get this option along with some others, definitely go for this one. This will get rid of the virus and restore the file to its original version just the way it was before getting infected.

Move to vault

If the above mentioned option is not available then you should go for this option. This option will move the infected file to the quarantine. Once the infected file is moved to the quarantine this file cannot harm the system in any way whatsoever.

Go to the file

When you select this option it opens up the location of the infected file so that you can remove the file manually.

Ignore the threat

When you choose this option, no action will be taken to remove the virus, only the infected file will be blocked in order to prevent the infection from spreading.
